DAVEY GRANT VS DANIEL MARCOS LOWDOWN

Davey Grant (15-6) fights on home soil for the first time since 2016. He is 6-5 in the UFC lacking cage time due to injuries. What he has not lacked however, is excitement bringing the heat every fight. His last two losses were decisions to Marlon Vera (2021) and Adrian Yanez (2021) but they were both ‘Fight of the Night’ displays. He bounced back with a ruthless knockout over Louis Smolka (2022) and a wild inverted triangle choke on Raphael Assuncao (2023) earning another ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.

Now, he welcomes Daniel Marcos (14-0) to the UK for his second UFC appearance. He arrived to the UFC having earnt a unanimous decision over Brandon Lewis (2022) on the Contender Series which boosted his unblemished record to 13-0. He made his debut at UFC 283 back in January against Saimon Oliveira and it went like a dream folding him with a piercing knee in the second round.

DAVEY GRANT VS DANIEL MARCOS PREDICTION

The UFC have deliberately matched these guys up to set off fireworks inside the O2 Arena. They are both wild on the feet with knockout power. Marcos is more technical, but Davey is never out of a fight and the Peruvian may have to put him to sleep.

Grant has the edge in the grappling department and will pounce on the opportunity for a submission. He will happily walk into fire to create those opportunities which will be a very dangerous game plan against Marcos.

If Grant’s strategy evolves around his grappling, he should get this done. However, he has become too reliant in his hands which is likely to be his undoing here. He is very durable and likely to drag this to the bell, but we can see him eating some serious damage.

Prediction: Marcos via Decision

Value bet: Grant to win
