BRYCE MITCHELL VS DAN IGE LOWDOWN

Bryce Mitchell (15-1) returns nine months after suffering the first loss of his career. He wrestled his way to winning his first six UFC bouts including Edson Barboza (2022) which was his first appearance in 17 months. He did not show any signs of rust and was then lined up with fellow unbeaten prospect Ilia Topuria (2022) and was frankly outclassed in every area eventually getting submitted in the second round.

Dan Ige (17-6) has bounced back from his three-fight skid losing unanimous decisions to the Korean Zombie (2021), Josh Emmett (2021) and Movsar Evloev (2022). He returned seven months later to take on Damon Jackson (2023) who was riding a four-fight win streak and proceeded to knock him out in the second round. He then followed that up with a unanimous decision over Nate Landwehr back in June.

BRYCE MITCHELL VS DAN IGE PREDICTION

We know what to expect from Mitchell and that will be to dive on a takedown as soon as possible, keep Ige pinned to the canvas and hope a submission opens up. That will be a wise strategy anyway as Ige is a much better striker.

Ige has a 56% takedown defence which is mainly thanks to Evloev’s nine takedowns. Mitchell is not as strong as a wrestler, but he has incredible control and may just need one takedown per round to give the judges an easy decision.

We can see Mitchell being hesitant after his Topuria beating and getting caught by Ige who will be waiting for him to shoot in. Considering the odds and Ige’s experience sharing the cage with better fighters, he is the value pick.

However, we are backing Mitchell’s relentless wrestling to grind out an uneventful decision.

Prediction: Mitchell via Decision

Value bet: Ige to win
