ANDREA LEE VS MIRANDA MAVERICK LOWDOWN
Andrea Lee (13-8) is on the second three-fight skid of her career which is not a good look. However, last time she responded with finishes over Antonina Shevchenko (2021) and Cynthia Calvillo (2021). She is coming off three decision losses in a row denting her UFC record to 5-6 but they were all to quality ranked fighters in Viviane Araujo (2022), Maycee Barber (2023) and Natalia Silva (2023).
Miranda Maverick (12-5) has been more consistent but has struggled against more powerful grapplers. She lost decisions to Maycee Barber (2021) and Erin Blanchfield (2021) and bounced back with dubs over Sabina Mazo (2022) and Shanna Young (2022). She then got outpointed by Jasmine Jasudavicius (2023) but is coming off a vintage submission and armbar over Priscila Cachoeira back in at UFC 291 in July.
ANDREA LEE VS MIRANDA MAVERICK PREDICTION
This has got split decision written all over it and is likely to come down to how much control time Maverick can get. They are both well-rounded, but Lee will try and keep the fight on the feet whereas we expect Maverick to try and take her down.
Lee is very technical, and her four-inch reach and three-inch height advantage should allow her to pile on the volume. We expect Maverick to combat this by closing the distance and applying enough pressure to shut her down.
We are leaning slightly towards Maverick as if she can seal a couple takedowns and spend enough time in the clinch, she will sway the judges. However, Lee has solid takedown defence, and we can see her creating enough room on the feet and get the nod with her output. She is the value pick as the underdog.
