Michael van Gerwen ended his Premier League losing streak in Berlin last Thursday, going on to reach the final before losing to an imperious Luke Littler.

The Dutchman, who sits in fourth place heading into Manchester, entered both Players Championship events this week, going out at the round of 16 stage on Monday before a last-32 exit the following day.

Also on the receiving end of Littler last week, Stephen Bunting went out at the quarter-final stage despite averaging 107.47 against the world champion - the second week in a row that the Bullet had posted a three-figure average in a last-eight defeat to the youngster.

Bunting also entered the Players Championship double-header in Leicester, reaching the round of 16 on both occasions.

Bunting has been unfortunate to run into Littler in each of the last two weeks, but if he can deliver a similar level of performance here, we fancy him to edge past an occasionally brilliant but still largely inconsistent Van Gerwen.
