Gian van Veen vs James Wade prediction

This has all the makings of a thrilling contest. Gian van Veen is an outstanding player but has yet to really peak after two rounds, holding a consistent 85.00-86.00 average and was fortunate to edge past Ryan Searle 3-2 most recently. A similar showing against James Wade won’t cut it when considering how good ‘The Machine’ looked in round two.

Averaging 93.20 against Stephen Bunting, who himself put up a whopping 96.29, Wade’s ruthless doubling proved decisive. He was superb for the large part when it came to starting legs and that was key in his 3-1 victory. Wade is a veteran of this unique tournament and the former winner is set to compete in his eighth World Grand Prix quarter-final.

Although Gian van Veen is the higher seed, Wade is playing the better darts and his vast experience, not to mention calm head when it comes to the double in format is likely to be pivotal. Back Wade to knock out the Dutchman and secure another semi-final appearance.
