Michael van Gerwen vs Gian van Veen prediction

Michael van Gerwen had no issues in the scoring department against Stephen Bunting last week, but a 27.27% checkout rate cost him as he was on the end of a 6-3 defeat at the quarter-final stage.

The Dutchman, who is just inside the top four heading into Brighton's matches, lost his only match at the German Darts Grand Prix on Sunday, with Nico Springer comfortably beating him 6-1.

After a difficult period which saw him lose some ground in the table due to issues with kidney stones, Gian van Veen put some much-needed points on the board last week by reaching the final in Manchester, which included his ill-tempered quarter-final victory over Luke Littler.

The world championship runner-up didn't fare so well in Munich over the weekend though. Like Van Gerwen, he lost at the first hurdle, averaging just 91 in defeat to William O'Connor.

In what is a battle of different Dutch generations, Van Gerwen has won both previous 2026 meetings between the pair, although both were close affairs. It is difficult to see one player running away with this one, so we're expecting there to be over 9.5 legs.

Michael van Gerwen vs Gian van Veen tip: Over 9.5 legs
