Mark Allen vs Wu Yize prediction
Mark Allen reached his third World Snooker Championship semi-final by outlasting Barry Hawkins at the quarter-final stage, with the Pistol sealing a 13-11 victory after his opponent under-hit a snooker attempt in the 24th frame.
Allen is bidding to become the oldest first-time winner of the event, and just needs the Crucible title to complete the career Triple Crown, having already added the UK Championship and Masters titles to his trophy cabinet.
The 40-year-old will take on the fantastically talented Wu Yize, who has truly risen to the occasion at this year's event.
The tenth seed hadn't won a game at the Crucible before this tournament, but he produced a clinical display against Hossein Vafaei in the quarter-finals to defeat the Iranian qualifier 13-8.
This is the third meeting between Allen and Yize this year, with both sharing the last two, and Allen may feel that this is finally his year in Sheffield.
However, if Wu Yize continues where he left off in the quarters, you could certainly see the 22-year-old emerging victorious. Given the confidence he is playing with right now, we're backing the Chinese star to progress as he tries to emulate compatriot Zhao Xintong's historic success last year.
