Mainz began the 2025/26 Bundesliga season with a 1-0 defeat at home to newly-promoted Cologne at the weekend. Bo Henriksen remains in charge of Mainz, but the highly-rated coach has some work to do in the second-leg in Germany this week.

The first-leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League playoff round tie saw Mainz suffer a 2-1 loss to Rosenborg at the Lerkendal Stadion in Norway. Nadiem Amiri opened the scoring for the Germans after 26 minutes, before Rosenborg then managed to turn things around with Dennis Islamovic scoring just before half-time, before Ole Saeter snatched the victory late on in the second-half.

Rosenborg will fancy their chances of going to Mainz and playing on the front foot, but Mainz surely have enough to turn things around with their home advantage.
