Luke Humphries started 2026 slowly but the 2024 world champion has now found some excellent form of late. The world number two romped to an impressive first nightly win of the year in Birmingham last week with a 110.98 average in the semi-final against Luke Littler before then going on to win Players Championship 17 earlier this week.

Michael van Gerwen has enjoyed an improved 2026 after an indifferent and difficult 2025, both on and off the oche. He seemed inevitable for the top four but the Dutchman has suffered some unfortunate defeats in the last month or so, despite claiming his first Pro Tour title since 2024 earlier this month.

Humphries is now on a ten-match winning streak and, as he hunts a top three spot to avoid a Littler semi-final, he is the favourite to defeat an improved MvG.
