Lecce Preview: Languishing Lecce

Mid-way through this season, after producing something of a great escape last year, Lecce parted company with experienced manager Luca Gotti and he was replaced by former Milan boss Marco Giampaolo but things have not gone well as they hover above the danger zone.

In their most recent outing, the home team suffered a slender 1-0 defeat to an in-form Roma side at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare due to an 80th minute strike by Ukraine international striker Artem Dovbyk.

Venezia Preview: Defensively improved Venetians

Venezia begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places with just three victories in 30 matches throughout the campaign under the management of former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco.

The Venetians have been much-improved defensively of late, frustrating the likes of Atalanta, Lazio and Napoli but they couldn’t keep out in-form Bologna, suffering a 1-0 loss last weekend due to a 49th minute strike by Riccardo Orsolini.

Lecce Team News: Couple of injuries

Lecce are dealing with a couple of injuries this weekend ahead of the visit of Venezia. Spanish midfielder Joan Gonzalez is a long-term absentee for the home team alongside Filip Marchwinski.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Falcone; Guilbert, Gaspar, Baschirotto, Gallo; Coulibaly, Ramadani; Pierotti, Helgason, Karlsson; Krstovic

Unavailable: Joan Gonzalez (Injured), Marchwinski (Injured)

Venezia Team News: Several issues

Venezia have several issues ahead of the visit down to the south of Italy this weekend with the likes of Marin Sverko and Alfred Duncan both doubts, whilst Filip Stankovic remains sidelined alongside the likes of Michael Svoboda and Domen Crnigoj.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Radu; Schingtienne, Idzes, Cande; Zerbin, Doumbia, Busio, Kike Perez, Ellertsson; Oristanio, Fila

Unavailable: Stankovic (Injured), Svoboda (Injured), Crnigoj (Injured), Maric (Injured)

Questionable: Sverko (Injured), Duncan (Injured)

Lecce vs Venezia Prediction

In their 30 Serie A matches so far this season, Lecce have scored just 21 goals and they are comfortably the lowest scorers in the league. They now take on a Venezia side that are the second lowest scorers in the league with the aforementioned Di Francesco attempting to try and become more defensive with his side. Given that, a low-scoring encounter appear inevitable for this one.

Lecce vs Venezia Tip: Under 2.5 goals
