Lausanne-Sport come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Vevey-Sports in the first round of the Swiss Cup at the weekend as they endure a difficult start to the Swiss Super League season with just three points collected from their three matches. They did pull off a surprise defeat of Astana in the previous round.

Besiktas were knocked out in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League against Shakhtar Donetsk and then the Turkish giants were fairly unconvincing as they defeated League of Ireland side Saint Patrick’s Athletic by seven goals to three on aggregate, with the pressure growing on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lausanne will be expected to be resilient and stubborn with home advantage in Switzerland, but the personnel of Besiktas have to mark them out as favourites.
