Kevin Doets vs Noa-Lynn van Leuven Prediction

Kevin Doets returns to Alexandra Palace for his second appearance after making his debut last year. He got to the second round last year before losing to Michael Smith but he put up a great fight in that match and narrowly lost 3-2 after leading 2-1.

He is currently ranked 51 in the world and has had a good year. Doets has registered his best performances in the UK Open and the World Series Finals this year and will be hoping to get through the first round once again here to earn a shot at Michael van Gerwen.

Doets meets compatriot Noa-Lynn van Leuven who becomes the first trans woman to play at Ally Pally. The 28-year-old Dutch player beat Beau Greaves 5-3 in the final of the Women’s Series 21 and recorded a record average of 109.64 in doing so. That led to her qualification for this tournament and she will be determined to put in a good showing here.

So much will depend on how both players handle the spotlight on stage here. There will likely be a little more pressure than usual on both players but assuming Doets settles into his rhythm quickly enough, he should have the quality and consistency to win through but expect a close one especially if Van Leuven can hold her throw early on.
