Kamil Majchrzak recovered from a slump in the second set to beat Terence Atmane and reach the round-of-16 in Gstaad. The Pole won 6-3 3-6 6-2, winning a commanding 79% of his first serve points. He reached the fourth-round of a slam for the first time at Wimbledon and will hope he can continue the momentum further with a deep run at this event.
He will face Ignacio Buse in next stage of the competition. Buse picked up a fine win in round one as he defeated Chile Open winner Laslo Djere in three sets. His level deserted him in the middle of the match, but he broke Djere late on to win 7-6 1-6 6-4.
Majchrzak will need to be wary of the threat posed by Buse, but he’s in good form and has the more consistent game overall. A place in the quarter-final beckons for either player and we favour Majchrzak to come through against the qualifier.
