Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction
Jannik Sinner produced a dominant performance to put an end to Novak Djokovic’s dream of a 25th Grand Slam title. The Serb was bidding for his eighth straight Wimbledon final, but Sinner made a blistering start and came through to win 6-3 6-3 6-4. The Italian suffered a slight dip at the start of the third set and nearly went a double break down, but he regrouped admirably and easily outlasted Djokovic to make his first ever Wimbledon final. Sinner has now reached all four Grand Slam finals and is bidding for his fourth major.
He will have to get through Carlos Alcaraz as the Spaniard continued his incredible run of form with a hard-fought victory over Taylor Fritz. Alcaraz saved two set points in the fourth set tiebreak as he beat Fritz 6-4 5-7 6-3 7-6. It was a stunning serving performance from Alcaraz as he won 88% of his first serve points.
Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 8-4 and has won their last five matches. He defeated Sinner in the final of Roland Garros last month, in what is already being described as one of the greatest matches ever played. The five-time Grand Slam champion saved three championship points as he won from two sets down.
However, Sinner leads 1-0 on grass. He is the last man to beat Alcaraz at Wimbledon, as he defeated him in four sets in the round-of-16 three years ago. There is very little to separate the two, as shown by the French Open final and how they’ve performed in this tournament so far.
We will give the edge to Alcaraz as he has won his last 24 matches at SW19, won his last 24 matches on tour and has not lost to Sinner since 2023. His variety and movement on the grass could disrupt the Italian’s fluency but this is likely to be yet another close final.
