Ilves vs AZ prediction

Finnish outfit Ilves Tampere were drawn against Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League earlier this month. They were always underdogs, and that became even more apparent early in a first-leg that eventually finished with Shakhtar winning 6-0. Back in Finland, with the Ukrainians heavily rotated, Ilves restored some pride with a goalless draw in the second-leg.

AZ Alkmaar are again another team that Ilves will feel unfortunate to have been drawn against. The Dutch Eredivisie side finished just outside of the top four in the Eredivisie last season, but they are one of the stronger sides at this stage of the competition.

Ilves have been unfortunate and it could well be an early exit from European competition this season, with AZ the overwhelming favourites for both legs this week.

Ilves vs AZ tip: AZ to win
