Hugo Gaston vs Chun-Hsin Tseng prediction
Hugo Gaston made his return from injury at Wimbledon but lost in the first-round to Jakub Mensik in four sets. He then dropped down to play a Challenger event in Iasi but lost in round one to home favourite Radu Albot despite being the second seed. Gaston has failed to make the quarter-final or better of any clay court event he’s competed in this year. His best result during this campaign is a last eight appearance in Phenoix but that was on hard court.
Chun-Hsin Tseng will be his opponent. Tseng lost in the first-round of Wimbledon and then followed that up with a round one defeat on clay in Trieste on the Challenger Tour. However, his form a few weeks back was far more encouraging. He won a title in Vincenza at the beginning of June on clay and then followed that up with a final appearance in Prostejov a week later on the same surface.
There’s just seven places separating these two in the rankings, but we give the edge to Tseng in this one, as he has enjoyed more recent success on clay.
