Gerwyn Price vs Gian van Veen prediction

Gerwyn Price finds himself in a first World Matchplay semi-final in four years after overcoming Ross Smith 16-12 with the aid of a 102.78 average on Friday evening.

The Welshman has steadily improved his performance levels with each round at Winter Gardens and now faces an opponent he knows well, having locked horns with Gian van Veen seven times in this year's Premier League.

Price was the victor in five of those contests, and generally has a dominant record when it comes to the pair's head-to-head history having won 13 of their 16 meetings across all competitions.

Van Veen's finishing was excellent during his quarter-final win over James Wade, as he converted 55.17% of his double attempts in a 16-13 victory.

The Dutchman's scoring wasn't quite there though, and unless he improves considerably in that area, it is unlikely to be his undoing against Price, who reached double figures for maximums against Smith.

The Iceman has generally had Van Veen's number, and judging by their respective performance levels in Blackpool, we see this one going the same way.
