- In their three previous instalments in 1934, 1990 and 2018, the African side failed to advance past the opening round and are still seeking a first World Cup victory having drawn two and lost five of their seven matches.
- Debutants all the way back in 1934, Egypt were the first African nation to play in the global showpiece; the second team, Morocco, did not feature until 1970.
- Egypt secured their spot at the FIFA World Cup 26™ by finishing top of Group A in the African qualifying tournament with eight wins and two draws from their ten matches. Their talisman Mohamed Salah found the net nine times to become the first African player to reach the landmark of 20 goals in World Cup qualifying.
