The defender with perhaps the most pedigree for the Egyptians is Nice centre-back Mohamed Abdelmonem. The 27-year-old missed the entirety of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 campaign due to injury and Nice badly struggled in his absence, surviving relegation in the end-of-season play-off against Saint-Etienne.
