Egypt manager Hossam Hassan has announced his provisional squad for FIFA World Cup 2026.

The big decision made by Egypt boss Hossam Hassan is that Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed has, surprisingly, been left out of the Pharaohs 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup.

The former Galatasaray man did not feature too often for Egypt at the recent CAF Africa Cup of Nations but was involved in the squad during the March international break and so his omission is somewhat a surprise.

In attack, Barcelona B forward Hamza Abdelkerim has been called up alongside Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan with the inexperienced Aqtay Abdallah also preferred to the 61-cap striker.

The stars in the Egypt squad do, of course, come in the final third with captain Mohamed Salah alongside Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush and former Aston Villa winger Trezeguet.

The big name at the back is Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem, who has struggled with injury throughout this campaign, behind an experienced midfield that is headlined by Al Wakrah’s Hamdy Fathy.
