THE LOWDOWN

REAL BETIS

Under the management of Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis have coped well with financial restrictions to consistently compete for a top six finish and the Andalusians are doing so once again. The home team begin the weekend sitting seventh in La Liga with a steady run of form throughout the campaign, whereby they have suffered just two defeats in their opening 13 matches.

They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw in ‘El Gran Derbi’ against Sevilla a couple of weeks ago, prior to the November international break. Betis are now unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions but they have been a little underwhelming with 17 goals in 13 La Liga games so far this season.

LAS PALMAS

Following promotion last season, Las Palmas started the season shakily but have since really improved and steadied themselves into a mid-table outfit. The Canary Islanders, coached by former Barcelona youth coach Garcia Pimienta, begin the return to La Liga action sitting just below Real Betis in the table.

The visitors, who attempt to play an easy on the eye style of football, can occasionally fall into the trap of being too controlling of the game with just 11 goals scored in their opening 13 matches. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Osasuna, meaning they have suffered just one defeat in their last seven across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

REAL BETIS

Real Betis have a few key injury issues for this weekend with the likes of Youssouf Sabaly and Claudio Bravo unavailable, whilst Isco remains a doubt for the visit of the Canarians.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Vieites; Bellerin, Pezzella, Riad, Miranda; Rodriguez, Roca; Diao, Luis Henrique, Ayoze Perez; Willian Jose

UNAVAILABLE: Bravo (Injured), Silva (Injured), Sabaly (Injured), Bartra (Injrued)

QUESTIONABLE: Isco (Injured)

LAS PALMAS

Las Palmas also have a few injury concerns but nothing fresh or new so they would be able to name an unchanged eleven as they face Real Betis.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Valles; Suarez, Coco, Marmol, S.Cardona; Perrone; Park, Munoz, Rodriguez, Munir; Kaba

UNAVAILABLE: Lemos (Injured), Crespo (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Viera (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

These two are separated by just one place in the Spanish top-flight and that would very much be a surprise ahead of the campaign – especially after the way in which Las Palmas started the season. Betis will welcome the islanders to Andalusia with awareness that they must also have a focus on their upcoming UEFA Europa League clash with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic on Thursday. This, much like many Las Palmas games so far this season, could be one that just passes the watcher by and a low-scoring affair is to be expected.

BETTING TIP: UNDER 3.5 GOALS
