Osasuna reached the Copa del Rey final, defeated by Real Madrid in Seville, and finished seventh in La Liga last season, subsequently qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League. Under the management of Jago Arrasate, Osasuna have been generally underwhelming this season after their overperformance last season.
The Pamplona-based club begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table. The hosts come into this on the back of a 4-2 defeat at home to Girona in their most recent outing, making it back-to-back defeats and three losses in their last four matches as they struggle for a bit of consistency.
LAS PALMAS
With the coaching of former Barcelona youth coach, Garcia Pimienta, Las Palmas gained promotion to the top-flight of Spanish football playing in a manner befitting of the stereotype: ‘the Brazilians of Spanish football’. The Canary Islanders were always expected to struggle but after a slow start they have really grown into the 2023/24 campaign.
The visitors come into this on the back of a shock 2-1 defeat of Atletico Madrid, last weekend, continuing their fine run of form as they begin the weekend sitting in the top-half of the table. They have suffered just two defeats in their last eight matches with those losses coming against Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
