THE LOWDOWN

GRANADA

A couple of weeks ago, Segunda-bound Granada had their trip to Mestalla against Valencia postponed due to a fire in the city. That means they have a game-in-hand but that really doesn’t and shouldn’t matter as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting ten points adrift of safety after a miserable campaign.

Uruguayan coach Alexander Medina, who replaced Paco Lopez a couple of months ago, the Andalusians come into this one on the back of being thrashed by an improving Villarreal side at El Madrigal last weekend. Theo Corbeanu scored a consolation for Granada in that match after goals from Etienne Capoue and Goncalo Guedes supported an Alexander Sorloth hat-trick.

REAL SOCIEDAD

Real Sociedad, under the management of Imanol Aguacil, have one of the most intense pressing styles of any team in European football and that has often led to a really poor run in the second-half of seasons and that is happening, once again, as La Real head into the final couple of months of the campaign with their season unravelling.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Paris Saint-Germain, eventually losing the tie by four goals to one on aggregate in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie. They were also recently beaten by Real Mallorca in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. They have won just one of their last ten matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

GRANADA

Granada only have a couple of injury issues for this weekend as former Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo is missing alongside Raul Fernandez.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Batalla; Piatkowski, Hongla, Miquel; Sanchez, Ruiz, Villar, Neva; Pellistri, Boye, Uzuni

UNAVAILABLE: Vallejo (Injured), Raul Fernandez (Injured)

REAL SOCIEDAD

Real Sociedad have several absentees for this weekend’s visit to Andalusia as Jon Pacheco is out suspended with the likes of Aritz Elustondo and Alvaro Odriozola among those sidelined through injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alex Remiro; Traore, Zubeldia, Le Normand, Galan; Mendez, Zubimendi, Merino; Kubo, Oyarzabal, Becker

UNAVAILABLE: Pacheco (Suspended), Zakharyan (Injured), Elustondo (Injured), Odriozola (Injured), Merquelanz (Injured), Munoz (Injured), Fernandez (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Real Sociedad have endured a really difficult couple of months and they are in danger of dropping out of the top six and the European spots. However, they really should get some respite from that poor run of form as they face a Granada side that are waiting for their relegation to be mathematically confirmed. So, even with their form of late, backing Real Sociedad is the way to go for this one.

TIP: REAL SOCIEDAD TO WIN
