THE LOWDOWN
CADIZ
Since gaining promotion to the top-flight a few seasons ago, Cadiz have repeatedly avoided the drop in La Liga against expectations. Last season, once again, they defied logic and expectation by surviving relegation on the final day of the season in what was an intense and competitive relegation battle.
The Andalusians come into this on the back of a 2-0 loss away to Valencia in their most recent outing, last weekend. That was their third successive loss as they languish in the bottom-half of the table ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures with just one win since their opening day victory against newly-promoted Alaves.
SEVILLA
For most of last season, Sevilla were in a La Liga relegation battle but they managed to survive with a late burst after the appointment of Jose Luis Mendilibar during the March international break, which was also combined with a run to winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2023/24 campaign, for a record seventh time as a club.
However, a slow start to the campaign means that Sevilla have already taken the decision to sack Mendilibar and replace him with former Uruguay boss, Diego Alonso. The Andalusians come into this on the back of a 2-1 loss at home to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, which means they have managed just two victories in 13 matches across all competitions.

THE PREDICTION
This Andalusian derby has been something of a relegation battle for consecutive seasons so far and that has majorly surprised many with the incredible fall off of Sevilla, both on and off the pitch. Cadiz have managed to score just eight goals in their opening ten matches as they languish down at the bottom, just a point and a place above Mallorca in the top-flight table. Under 2.5 goals seems inevitable for this one, between two poor sides that are struggling.
BETTING TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
