THE LOWDOWN

PORTO

Porto relinquished their grip on the Portuguese title last season with their O Classico rivals, Benfica, taking top spot. Under the fairly reactive and defensive management of Sergio Conceicao, Porto are a difficult team to play against or beat and that has remained the case, albeit their lack of attacking fluidity is something of an issue.

The Dragons started this season with five successive fortuitous victories, which required a come back or a late goal. They come into this on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win away to Vizela in their most recent outing, last weekend, and have now enjoyed four successive victories, across all competitions.

ESTORIL

Under Bruno Pinheiro, Estoril found themselves climbing to the top-flight a few years ago and then nearly earning European qualification. Since then, they have found themselves to be a mid-table club. Over the summer, they replaced Nelson Verissimo with Alvaro Pacheco but a poor start means that Pacheco has already been sacked. Vasco Seabra is now in charge.

The ‘Canaries’ have struggled throughout the campaign and begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom in the Primeira Liga table. Their most recent outing was a 1-0 loss away to Portimonense, last weekend. So far this season, they have managed just one victory in their opening nine matches.

THE TEAM NEWS

PORTO

Sergio Conceicao has a few injury issues, particularly defensively, with the likes of both Ivan Marcano and Wendell unavailable for this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Costa; Sanchez, Pepe, Carmo, Joao Mario; Conceicao, Varela, Eustaquio, Pepe; Evanilson, Taremi

UNAVAILABLE: Wendell (Injured), Ivan Jaime (Injured), Marcano (Injured), Veron (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sanusi (Injured)

ESTORIL

Estoril have no fresh injury or suspension concerns so they will be able to name an unchanged side for their trip to the Dragao at the weekend.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Carne; Feltes, Alvaro, Vital; Gomes, Holsgrove, Koindredi, Araujo; Guitane, Marques, Tavares

THE PREDICTION

This one should be relatively straightforward, especially with Porto having their home advantage. However, despite being the genuinely dominant side, Porto have managed to score just 13 goals in their nine matches so far this season. They face an Estoril side that have, though, conceded 20 with only one team letting in more often. So, despite their scoring issues, a comfortable Porto victory, especially at the Dragao, is the expected outcome of this one.

BETTING TIP: PORTO TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
