Walter Mazzari was drafted into Napoli over the November international break, a decade after departing the club. The former Watford boss was replacing Rudi Garcia, who has really struggled to galvanize the defending champions as Napoli face a challenge to even finish in the top four this season.
The Neapolitans have begun the second Mazzari reign with a 2-1 victory in Bergamo over Atalanta and then a 4-2 loss at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid, albeit in a game that had some promising signs. The champions have lacked fluency in attack throughout this season but have shown glimpses of improvement in the last week or so.
INTER MILAN
The reigning champions now meet the potential upcoming champions, Internazionale. The 2021 Serie A winners are beginning this match day sitting at the top-of-the-table, under the management of Simone Inzaghi. The Nerazzurri came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Benfica in midweek as they continue their fine form across all competitions.
They were held to a 1-1 draw at home to fellow title challengers Juventus in the Derby d’Italia last weekend so will be a little concerned about making it three without a win in Naples. They have been simply superb, though, so far this season with just one defeat in 18 games in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.

This could be the match where the Serie A title is ceremonially passed on from Naples back to Milan. Inter, on the other hand, will be more than confident of being ruthless enough to simply expose any of the deficiencies or vulnerabilities that Mazzari is trying to hide with this Napoli side.
