After winning their third ever Serie A title last season, and first outside of the Diego Maradona era, Napoli have since underperformed so far this season with the loss of manager Luciano Spalletti and sale of South Korea defender Kim Min-jae. Aurelio Di Laurentiis has said himself that Rudi Garcia is under pressure in the Napoli hot seat.
The Neapolitans come into this on the back of another underwhelming performance, being held to a 1-1 draw by a badly out of form Union Berlin side in the UEFA Champions League. They have been inconsistent and generally lacked both cohesion and fluency throughout the 2023/24 campaign, across all competitions.
EMPOLI
Empoli struggled at the start of this season so decided to revert back to their former manager, Aurelio Andreazzoli, replacing Paolo Zanetti. The Florence club had an immediate slight improvement but have regressed once again and sit firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places ahead of this one.
The visitors come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Frosinone, who gained promotion last season, making it back-to-back losses after they had been hammered 3-0 by Atalanta before that. In their opening 11 matches so far this season, Empoli have managed to score just four goals and collect two victories.

Defending champions Napoli have been generally unconvincing at times so far this season but they have begun to hit some flow at least. The Neapolitans’ 2-0 defeat of bottom-of-the-table Salernitana means that they are now unbeaten in their last six matches across all competitions. Empoli are set to be involved in a relegation battle throughout the campaign and with two wins in 11 matches they do sit in the bottom three and the relegation places. Napoli are firm favourites for this one, especially with their home advantage.
