THE LOWDOWN

MONZA

Monza, despite the death of Silvio Berlusconi, remain an ambitious club and if they do not make it this season then they will likely invest relatively heavy in the summer transfer window as they aim for a top seven finish and European qualification at some stage in the near future, despite having only reached the top-flight for the first time ever in 2022.

Monza begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top-half of the Serie A table and they are only a few points off the aforementioned top seven. Raffaele Palladino’s Lombardy-based outfit come into this one on the back of a topsy-turvy 3-2 defeat of Genoa last weekend with a 79th minute winner being scored by Daniel Maldini.

CAGLIARI

Following their promotion back to the top-flight of Italian football last season, Cagliari are showing some real fight and resolve as they battle against the drop this season. The Sardinians begin this weekend’s round of fixtures up and away from the bottom three and the relegation places after a much-improved recent run of form.

Former Leicester City and Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has overseen back-to-back victories in recent weeks. They firstly edged past in-form Empoli in Florence a fortnight ago before producing a 4-2 hammering of bottom-of-the-table Salernitana last weekend with goals from Gianluca Lapadula, Gianluca Gaetano and a brace by Eldor Shomurodov.

THE TEAM NEWS

QUESTIONABLE:

CAGLIARI

Marco Mancosu is among those that are doubts for Cagliari this weekend with Zito Luvumbo, Marko Rog and Leonardo Pavoletti all missing for this one due to injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-1-1): Scuffet; Zappa, Mina, Dossena, Augello; Nandez, Makoumbou, Deiola, Jankto; Gaetano; Lapadula

UNAVAILABLE: Luvumbo (Injured), Pavoletti (Injured), Rog (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Saturday afternoon presents a match between two sides that are surprisingly hitting a bit of form as they try and meet their respective end of season goals in the last couple of months. Despite both teams being buoyant likely confident this weekend, it is still not expected to be a thriller for the neutral. Monza have managed just 31 goals this season, whilst Cagliari have notched just 29 times. Under 2.5 goals seems like a very good value bet for this one.

TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
