THE LOWDOWN
HELLAS VERONA
Hellas Verona began this season with back-to-back victories and the only other time they have ever done that they won their only ever Scudetto. After that, though, they endured a 14-match winless run of form but have since become much-improved once again as they lift themselves out of the bottom three and the relegation places.
Marco Baroni’s Verona come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Cagliari in Sardinia on Easter Monday with Federico Bonazzoli’s opening goal cancelled out by Ibrahim Sulemana. That draw means Verona have now suffered just two defeats in their last eight matches in Serie A.
GENOA
Having returned to Serie A at the first attempt last season, Genoa’s ownership group 777 Partners took the decision to relatively heavily back manager Alberto Gilardino ahead of this season and that has paid off with the Genovese comfortably safe of relegation and establishing themselves firmly in the middle-of-the-table.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Frosinone in their most recent outing, last weekend, with Albert Gudmundsson scoring a 30th minute penalty but that was cancelled out six minutes later by Reinier. That means the visitors have now managed just one win in their last eight matches.

THE PREDICTION
At the start of this season, these would have been two sides expected to be competing alongside each other in the relegation battle but there is in fact only one of them that is needing to really buck their ideas up in the run in. Verona have been doing that, though, with some steady recent form. Genoa have spent money and been generally impressive but remain a defensive and reactive side so a low-scoring encounter is to be expected for this one.
