Ross Smith comes into this event on a high after claiming the World Series of Darts Finals trophy just over a week ago in Amsterdam - his second major title after his European Championship success in 2022.

The 37-year-old has never previously enjoyed a deep run at the World Grand Prix, but it is difficult to bet against a man who is already being talked about as a Premier League player next year.

Standing in his way, though, is another form player in Cameron Menzies. who is coming off the back of a Pro Tour title in the Netherlands on Tuesday. That was the Scotsman's second floor title in 2026, but he doesn't always bring his A-game to the big stage and this is a tough first-round draw for him.
