Nathan Aspinall has a curious record at the World Grand Prix, having made the final in 2022 but otherwise having lost in the first round in four of his last six entries.
The Asp, although he has performed well on the European Tour circuit in 2026, hasn't excelled on the TV stage over the last 12 months or so, and this certainly looks like a match where a seed could fall.
Now firmly inside the top 32 in the rankings, Kevin Doets makes his World Grand Prix debut as he continues to make strides in the game. The Dutchman also has a surprisingly strong record against Aspinall, having won seven of their nine career meetings, including a 4-3 victory at the most recent PDC World Darts Championship.
There's plenty going for Doets here, and should he hold his nerve on debut, we can see him edging past Aspinall.
