THE LOWDOWN
ATALANTA
In what was supposed to be a transitional campaign for Atalanta this season, they have performed very well across all competitions as they have an April whereby they will play in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League after defeating Sporting CP by two goals one in the Round of 16 in Bergamo in the week.
The Bergamasci are also still competing for UEFA Champions League qualification in Serie A and they have an even better chance of achieving that with fifth place likely to earn that as a result of the new coefficient rules with UEFA Champions League expanding and changing format. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have been very impressive since mid-December.
FIORENTINA
Under the management of Vincenzo Italiano, much like Atalanta, Fiorentina are performing relatively well in the league and are also still in the domestic cup competition and in Europe. I Viola will indeed face Atalanta in that aforementioned Coppa Italia semi-final in a few weeks after the March international break.
The visitors are aiming to go a couple of steps further than they did last year where they finished as runners’ up in both the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Europa Conference League. They are also in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-finals after completing a 5-4 aggregate win over Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa on Thursday.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Faraoni, Martinez Quarta, Ranieri, Biraghi; Mandragora, Duncan; Sottil, Barak, Nicolas Gonzalez; Belotti

THE PREDICTION
This should be an absolute cracker between two teams that are playing against each other twice next month and two sides that are intending to finish the season with some silverware both domestically and on the continent. Atalanta play a front foot style of football and so do Fiorentina so it should well be quite an entertaining encounter in Bergamo on Sunday evening in which both teams scoring seems quite likely.
TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
