HELLAS VERONA
- Hellas Verona made a positive return to action in Serie A as they were able to overcome Cagliari despite a first half red card and that win keeps them right in the mix for a European spot.
- Having lost for the first time in 10 games in their last match before the enforced break, Verona showed that the loss to Sampdoria was just a blip as a brace of goals from Samuel Di Carmine inside the opening 30 minutes was ultimately enough to seal the win.
- Verona were made to sweat when Fabio Borini was given his marching order with just 35 minutes on the clock and despite Cagliari pulling one back, the hosts were able to hang on but will be without Borini for this contest as well as a handful of players through injury.
NAPOLI
- Napoli will enter this clash with their spirits high after they lifted the Coppa Italia trophy thanks to a penalty shootout success against Juventus and they will now look to build on that effort to end the league campaign on a high.
- Napoli won their last three Serie A matches before the season came to a halt and they will be eager to carry on where they left off after securing some silverware on their return to action.
- Gennaro Gattuso has a relatively healthy squad coming into this clash with Hellas Verona with Kostas Manolas and Kevin Malcuit the only two senior players missing but Stanislav Lobotka is back in contention.
THE PREDICTION
Hellas Verona made an immediate return to winning ways on the resumption of Serie A and produced an impressive performance to beat Cagliari despite playing 55 minutes with 10 men. Their task to see the game out was made easier when their opponents were also handed a red card with 20 minutes remaining but it was a solid effort regardless. They now host Coppa Italia winners Napoli in what should be an entertaining contest that could go either way but Verona have proven difficult to beat and they should be able to earn at least a point.
