OSNABRUCK
- Osnabruck bounced back from their opening 3-1 defeat to Hoffenheim with a 1-0 win at Sandhausen in Bundesliga II last weekend, but have won just two of their last eight DFB Cup ties.
- Midfield duo Niklas Schmidt and Manuel Farrido Pulido added to coach Daniel Thioune’s already considerable injury list this week, and he is also without four defenders for this assignment.
- Kevin Wolze is back from suspension and should start at left-back while Marcos Alvarez is pushing for a start after coming on and scoring the winner against Sandhausen.
RB LEIPZIG
- Last season’s beaten finalists RB Leipzig begin their cup campaign with a long trip west to Osnabruck in their first competitive game under new head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
- It has been a fairly quiet summer on the transfer front and all the players who started May’s final against Bayern Munchen are still at the club, so it will be a familiar-looking line-up.

RB Leipzig have big ambitions this season under new coach Julian Nagelsmann and should overcome this first hurdle in the DFB Cup fairly comfortably. They had the best defensive record in the Bundesliga last season and that solid unit has stayed together, so a win to nil is likely.
