Freiburg got off to the idea start in the Bundesliga, gaining three points away at Hoffenheim in a match which saw them go two goals ahead before half-time, before seeing the result through despite conceding only five minutes into the second period.
After an own goal opened the scoring, Roland Sallai doubled the advantage for Freiburg in first half stoppage time. They were forced to fight through significant periods of pressure from then on as Hoffenheim pulled a goal back and pushed bodies forward, but Freiburg hung on and such resilience away from home will be seen as a huge positive by head coach Christian Streich.
WERDER BREMEN
Werder Bremen proved no match for Bayern Munich on the opening night of the 2023-24 Bundesliga season. From the moment Thomas Tuchel’s side went a goal up in the first few minutes, it was always going to be a long way back for Werder and as they began to tire in the second half, Bayern proceeded to take them apart, winning 0-4.
Werder can at least take heart from the pressure they put the reigning champions under, especially early on in the second half and a bit more cutting edge in that period could have seen a different outcome. This is what they’ll be hoping to build upon going into this next contest.

Freiburg will know the importance of making their home ground a fortress if they are to enjoy another successful Bundesliga season and should prove just as much of an attacking force as they were against Hoffenheim, with potentially even more possession of the ball being afforded to them. Werder Bremen showed against Bayern that they do pose a counter-attacking threat and with Fullkrug in the side, a goal is never too far away. However, the superior all-round strength of Freiburg makes them worth backing to win via the draw no bet market for extra security.
