THE PREDICTION

Both sides might feel this is a good time to be playing the other. Borussia Monchengladbach have been in freefall since coach Marco Rose announced he was joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer, losing seven straight matches in all competitions. They could not ask for a better opportunity to get a much-needed win than a meeting with basement boys Schalke, whose 5-0 thrashing at Wolfsburg last Saturday was their 17th league defeat of the campaign and left them 11 points adrift at the foot of the table. The Royal Blues have scored just once in their last six games but Gladbach have also been struggling in front of goal during their poor run, so a low-scoring win for the visitors might well be on the cards.
