THE PREDICTION

Koln’s last-gasp 3-2 defeat at home to relegation rivals Mainz last Sunday proved to be the final straw for coach Markus Gisdol, who was dismissed on Monday following eight games without a win. The experienced Friedhelm Funkel has been brought in until the end of the season with the sole aim of keeping the Billy Goats in the top flight, and he begins with a tough task away to Bayer Leverkusen, who have taken four points from two games following their own change in the dugout. Leverkusen drew 0-0 at Hoffenheim on Monday night but they have not registered a clean sheet on home soil since November, and although Koln are not the most potent attacking force, the visitors urgently need points and cannot afford to just sit back. Both teams to score is therefore an appealing option here.
