THE PREDICTION

It is six games without a win for Hannover 96 following their surprise 2-1 loss at home to basement boys Wurzburger Kickers on Thursday, and they do not have long to recover for a tough assignment against Heidenheim. In any case, the hosts look set for a mid-table finish, sitting 10 points clear of danger but 14 points off the top three. The seventh-placed visitors still have an outside chance of promotion, and they bounced back from back-to-back defeats with a 1-0 win at home to Holstein Kiel on Tuesday. Frank Schmidt’s men have not been as strong away from home this season and have only registered one clean sheet on their travels. Despite their middling form at home, Hannover have only failed to score in one of their last eight games at the HDI-Arena, suggesting that both teams to score would be a good bet.
