- Erzgebirge Aue kicked off their second season under head coach Daniel Meyer with an efficient 2-0 win at Greuther Furth last Sunday, but they were inconsistent on home turf during the previous campaign.
- Summer signings Soren Gonther and Marko Mihojevic formed a new centre-back partnership against Furth with Steve Breitkreuz and Malcolm Cacutalua both out injured, but otherwise it was a familiar-looking line-up.
- Louis Samson and Dennis Kempe are expected to be out of action for another few weeks while last season's top scorer Pascal Testroet will be assessed after missing the trip to Furth because of stomach flu.
