THE LOWDOWN

NICE

In the summer, INEOS-owned Nice took the fairly surprising decision to appoint inexperienced coach Francesco Farioli but the southerners overperformed pre-season expectations and launched themselves towards the very top end of the table with an extremely impressive defensive record that was eventually undermined by poor and toothless attacking displays.

Those poor and fairly toothless attacking displays saw them plummet outside of the top three and the UEFA Champions League qualifying spots. However, the southerners come into this one on the back of back-to-back victories; firstly defeating Strasbourg by three goals to one and then edging past Le Havre with a 1-0 win.

PSG

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain have already been crowned French champions once again but they are finishing the season with a bit of a whimper. The Parisiens, who are preparing for life after Kylian Mbappe and Luis Enrique has often rested or dropped him in the second-half of the campaign, name another weakened team last weekend as they suffered defeat at Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe, in his final home game for PSG, opened the scoring early on at home to Toulouse but they eventually fell to a 3-1 loss with goals being scored by Thijs Dallinga, Yann Gboho and Frank Magri. That means PSG have now managed have now suffered three successive defeats and have won just three of their last nine matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

NICE

Midfielder Sofiane Diop is unavailable for this weekend’s visit of PSG at the Allianz Riviera but they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Bulka; Mendy, Todibo, Dante, Bard; Sanson, Rosario, Thuram; Cho, Moffi, Boga

UNAVAILABLE: Diop (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

PSG

There are three defensive injuries for Paris Saint-Germain this weekend and they are all on the left-hand side with Presnel Kimpembe, Lucas Hernandez and Layvin Kurzawa all unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Tenas; Mukiele, Danilo, Skriniar, Zague; Soler, Ugarte, Asensio; Lee, Kolo Muani, Asensio

UNAVAILABLE: Hernandez (Injured), Kimpembe (Injured), Kurzawa (Injured), Rico (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

PSG have completely switched off between now and the end of this season, especially following their 2-0 aggregate loss to Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. They do have a Coupe de France final against Olympique Lyonnais to prepare for. Nice are seemingly finishing with a bit of a flourish and may well believe they could head into the final day of the season still in the hunt for a top three finish so a double chance bet in favour of the hosts looks the way to go for this one.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – NICE TO WIN OR DRAW
