THE LOWDOWN

BOURNEMOUTH

Andoni Iraola’s AFC Bournemouth went into the March international break on the back of an improvement in form, albeit against teams that they should have been collecting points against as they took seven points from three matches against the three teams that were in the bottom three until Nottingham Forest’s points deduction.

The Cherries went to Turf Moor and defeat Burnley by two goals to nil before then having to fight back from 2-0 down at home to Sheffield United to earn a point against the Blades. Then, though, they became just the sixth team in Premier League history to win a game from 3-0 down as they overturned a three-goal deficit against Luton Town at the Vitality Stadium.

EVERTON

Sean Dyche is under pressure as Everton boss, even with the Toffees recently receiving four points back from their previous points deduction for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules. The Merseysiders, though, have remained really poor on the pitch and do sit just four points outside of the bottom three and the relegation places.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford a few weeks ago in their most recent outing with first-half penalties from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. Everton have now managed just one win in their last 15 matches across all competitions and haven’t won in the Premier League since mid-December.

THE TEAM NEWS

BOURNEMOUTH

Andoni Iraola, for what is the third pre-match press conference in a row, confirmed that Dominic Solanke has ‘no issues’ and will ‘100%’ be involved, as he has been in each of those games where he has confirmed that.

The Cherries have had defenders Lloyd Kelly and Max Aarons return to first-team training, but Marcos Senesi and Ryan Fredricks are unavailable. Luis Sinisterra is out for ‘some weeks’, too.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neto; Smith, Mepham, Zabarnyi, Kerkez; Christie, Cook; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Solanke

UNAVAILABLE: Hill (Injured), Senesi (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Sinisterra (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Kelly (Injured), Aarons (Injured)

EVERTON

Sean Dyche was able to give some positive news in his pre-match press conference ahead of travelling south to face AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The Toffees have been able to welcome back Senegalese international midfielder Idrissa Gueye after he played for Senegal during the March international break. Arnaut Danjuma has rejoined first-team training, too, this week.

PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Pickford; Godfrey, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Garner, Onana, Doucoure, McNeil; Beto

UNAVAILABLE: Alli (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Danjuma (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

On the final day of last season, Everton edged past AFC Bournemouth to ensure Premier League survival with a strike from Abdoulaye Doucoure. Another Doucoure-inspired victory could be absolutely vital to their hopes of avoiding the drop. However, they have to make the trip to the south coast this time. Bournemouth improved in terms of results but would have wanted to be a little more convincing against the likes of Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton. The Toffees are unlikely to stretch their winless run in the league that much further and getting against a Bournemouth team that have showed weaknesses against a so-called ‘low block’ may be smart.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – EVERTON TO WIN OR DRAW
