THE LOWDOWN

SINT-TRUIDEN

The reduction of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League from 18 to 16 teams means that several sides that are generally presumed to be mid-table cannon fodder have become teams more likely to be drawn into a genuine relegation battle. Sint-Truiden fall into that category and that would be exactly the type of description one would give to their season so far.

The home team come into this on the back of a Belgian Cup Round of 32 tie with Francs Borains on Tuesday evening, which they eventually won by three goals to nil. In the league, though, they sit firmly in mid-table with a much-needed defeat of RWDM last weekend ending a four-match winless run of form.

EUPEN

For the majority of last season, Eupen were in a relegation battle but they narrowly escaped the drop late on in the campaign. The ‘Pandas’ appointed former Wolfsburg manager, Florian Kohfeldt, over the summer to improve their fortunes. Kohfeldt started well and remains in charge but things have definitely fallen off of late for the visitors.

They come into this on the back of a 2-0 loss at home to Oostende in their most recent outing in the Belgian Cup in midweek. Eupen had been on a six-match winless run of form in the Jupiler Pro League before comfortably defeating Sporting Charleroi by two goals to nil last weekend, following the October international break.

THE TEAM NEWS

SINT-TRUIDEN

Sint-Truiden have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues with their only absentee being former Japanese international, Shinji Okazaki.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Suzuki; Van Helden, Smets, Godeau; Hashioka, Ito, Delorge-Knieper, Bocat; Steuckers, Koita; Zahiroleslam

UNAVAILABLE: Okazaki (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

EUPEN

Eupen have a few injury issues with Reice Charles-Cook definitely out for this weekend and the likes of Bartosz Bialek,

PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Slonina; Magnee, Paeshuyse, Palsson, Kral, Van Genechten; Christie-Davies, Keita, Mohwald, Pantovic; Nuhu

UNAVAILABLE: Charles-Cook (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Lambert (Injured), Alloh (Injured), Bialek (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

These are two sides who had begun to massively look over their shoulder in recent weeks as their form collapsed and they fell down the table towards the bottom end. Both teams enjoyed important Jupiler Pro League victories last weekend before indifferent and mixed results in the cup in midweek. Whilst both have had similarly poor records of late in the Jupiler Pro League, Sint-Truiden remain the firm favourites for this Friday night clash, especially with their home advantage.

BETTING TIP: SINT-TRUIDEN TO WIN
