Reigning champions Royal Antwerp have started the defence of their title very poorly as they drift into the middle-of-the-table. Mark van Bommel’s side come into this on the back of a 2-0 loss to Porto in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in midweek, making it four defeats from four in that competition. They have managed just five wins in their 13 matches in the Jupiler Pro League so far this season. They now face a Standard Liege side that continued their steady decline in recent years with a poor beginning to this campaign but have since been much-improved of late. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Mechelen meaning they have suffered just one loss in their last 11 matches across all competitions.
