This is a repeat of the Copa del Rey final of 2021. Athletic Club played in two Copa del Rey finals in the space of two weeks, after playing in the 2020 COVID-19 rearranged encounter against Real Sociedad last year, too. They lost both. They now come into this on the back of another final defeat after losing to Real Madrid in the Supercopa final in Saudi Arabia. They now come up against a Barcelona team that were also defeated by Real Madrid but in the semi-finals. Xavi’s side have played better football but not to the point where you can be absolutely sure of their capability to defeat even mid-ranking Spanish sides. Both teams scoring could be likely in this one.
