Floriana finished second in the Maltese Premier League last season with Darren Abdilla at the helm of Tal-Irish. The 26-time Maltese champions, who haven’t won a title in the post-COVID era, did defeat Sammarinese side Tre Penne in the first qualifying round last season before then being hammered by Vitoria Guimaraes.
They now face a Haverfordwest County side that, coached by former Yeovil Town goalkeeper Tony Pennock, are entering into their third ever European campaign and their second in three seasons. The other year they managed to defeat Shkendija before losing to B36 Torshavn of the Faroe Islands in the second qualifying round.
Haverfordwest County will seek to ensure the tie is very much alive and in their favour in the second-leg in Wales, but Floriana would have to be favourites for the first-leg with their home advantage.
