Europa defeated Pyunik in the UEFA Europa League in 2016 and then Sant Julia in 2019. The Gibraltarians have won two out of 13 European ties. They finished third in the Gibraltar Football League last season.

They now face a Shkendija side that performed well in European football last season as the North Macedonians defeated FCSB in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round before going on to reach the league phase of the UECL, eventually beaten by Samsunspor in the knockout playoff round.

Shkendija are of a very different level against the Gibraltarian minnows and the North Macedonians are firm favourites for both legs in this tie.
