Key stats

  • Equatorial Guinea have won six of their last seven home World Cup qualifying matches without conceding a goal. The exception being a match awarded 3-0 to Namibia in November 2023 due to Equatorial Guinea fielding an ineligible player after the original result was 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea.
  • São Tomé and Príncipe have lost their last seven World Cup qualifying matches. Since a 1-0 victory against Ethiopia in October 2015.

Equatorial Guinea vs Sao Tome e Principe Prediction

Equatorial Guinea have done well in recent years in respective CAF Africa Cup of Nations competitions but they have struggled with just one win so far, although they now take on one of the weaker sides in the African continent, Sao Tome e Principe, this week.

Equatorial Guinea’s dip in form has perhaps coincided with former Middlesbrough man and captain Emilio Nsue being banned by FIFA as a result of it being found that he was actually never eligible to play for Equatorial Guinea. They did recover from three successive defeats to kick off their campaign to defeat Malawi by a goal to nil.

Sao Tome e Principe have failed to collect a solitary point from their opening four matches in CAF’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. In those four matches, they have scored just one goal with ten goals conceded in those games. They most recently lost 1-0 to Liberia at Stade Municipal last month.

Equatorial Guinea have, as mentioned, experienced a dip in form and their performance level in the last couple of years but they are expected to get a comfortable victory in this one.
