Dominic Stricker vs Pierre-Hugues Herbert prediction
Dominic Stricker was one match away from entering the main draw at Wimbledon but lost in the final stage of qualifying to Shintaro Mochizuki. He has already made a final appearance on clay this season, losing to Max Houkes on the ITF Tour in Santa Margherita di Pula.
His opponent will be Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The Frenchman also failed to get through qualifying and was another player to lose to Mochizuki in Roehampton. He picked up a title on the Challenger Tour in Cherboug in March on indoor hard court but his results on clay have been less impressive. He currently has a 8-8 win-loss record on the surface this season and his best result is a quarter-final appearance at the Naples Challenger.
They’ve played against each other twice before and the head-to-head stands at 1-1, but this will be their first match on clay. Despite Herbert not being at his best this season, he is still ranked nearly 80 places above his opponent and will be the favourite to win.
