The big question heading into this match is whether Casper Ruud will be able to capture the same kind of mixed doubles magic he had with Iga Swiatek last year, which saw the pair make it all the way to the final before being beaten in three sets by Errani and Vavassori. Whilst a different format to singles, Swiatek is a better player than Schnaider and had a great connection with Ruud. It will be hard to replicate that here.

Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula should have no such troubles. Coming off the back of a WTA 1000 final in Cincinnati, Pegula is good enough to handle the fast transition to mixed doubles and Fritz is the ideal partner. His booming serve and power-hitting should play well on this hard court. When taking this into account, it’s well worth backing the Americans with the crowd behind them to emerge victorious.
