Taking place at the Elbasan Arena in Albania, the first-leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League first qualifying round tie was an extremely tight affair decided late on. It was to be Valerijs Lizunovs who broke the deadlock of Daugavpils in the 85th minute to give the Lithuanians a slender but extremely surprising advantage ahead of the return leg in Lithuania this week.
Daugavpils have very little European pedigree, and the same can be said for Vllaznia Shkoder, but the latter have at least been able to progress a little more in the qualifying stages of UEFA competition.
These are two sides that are very limited in terms of their quality, especially in attack, and it is expected to be a tense and nervy affair in the second-leg this week.
